Email Case study

Working full time with Just Eat's emails in the UK and global markets was an exciting challenge, with a central focus on art-working food imagery and understanding customers' needs.

This case study highlights the design improvements my team implemented, creating a free-flow design system where food appeal was the key contributor to conversion and business success.

Research and Analysis

Through research, we identified that our emails could adhere to best practices better. They needed improved hierarchy, copy,
and focus.

We recorded data and metrics for each campaign, showing us what's most effective in real-time. This continuous learning helped inform design changes on the go.

Our revamped email blocks significantly improved customer communications through iterative testing. By integrating vouchers into a distinct box, usage surged as customers found it easier to copy and paste directly into the app. These tweaks boosted email open rates by 23% and click-through rates by 18%, driving increased orders and record-breaking revenue week after week.

Just Eat brand evolution

Just Eat brand evolution

During my three years at Just Eat, I embraced adaptation and growth, collaborating across various teams and undergoing rebranding while embracing diverse campaign identities. I'm particularly proud of the evolution from basic emails and stock photography to curated, art-directed imagery and food styling, complemented by illustrations and animations. This transformation has enabled us to stand out visually among competitors in the market.

Collaboration in extreme time pressures

Time wasn’t on our side. Shortly adopting the Takeaway.com brand colours and styles we had to move quickly on this campaign, I was tasked to lead on the designs, artwork the prizes and create the user journey in a few short weeks on the first phase of this project.

During phase 2 we brought in 6 other designers to support in translations and creating full marketing collateral including social media assets and a total of 648 digital banners across 8 languages.

Global achievements

The UEFA Partnership was one of the most challenging work streams I have ever been a part of. Despite some elements being rushed and turned around quickly, the campaign ended up being highly successful. We delivered this gamified experience to all the European countries Just Eat Takeaway was a part of, offering unique prizes and experiences throughout the duration of the UEFA tournament.
